Entrepreneur in Residence Program
“My name is Boukje Vastbinder and in September (2015) I started as the first ‘Entrepreneur in Residence’ at Orange Grove.
I studied industrial product design in both Delft and The Hague in the Netherlands and worked all over the world as a product designer, serial entrepreneur, startup coach and lecturer. Through my work as a lecturer in sustainable and developmental entrepreneurship at the Delft University of Technology, I have been involved with Orange Grove from its early days. Besides my previous work at the TU Delft, I also currently run my third company called ‘AmIaDesigner?’ which challenges and facilitates people, organizations and companies to design their own professions, lives, governments, companies etc. I love to help people with crazy ideas to turn those ideas into real products, business cases and opportunities that can have a positive impact on the world.
I believe that sustainable innovation leads to sustainable development in a profitable way from a social, economic and ecological perspective. Innovation creates products, services, jobs and opportunities, not only in our wealthy western world, but also in low-income communities. I am convinced that, through entrepreneurship, creativity and collaboration, social initiatives can improve people’s lives on the long term and I would like to contribute to this transition as an entrepreneur, researcher, lecturer/trainer and human!
I’ve been sort of a nomadic entrepreneur these last years, working in countries like Tanzania, Ghana, Indonesia, and Peru and of course the Netherlands. I’m a big foodie, love to get lost in new cities, surf and have a passion for design, art and architecture. I’m very much looking forward to settle down in Athens these next months, to get to know its food, people and urban culture and to share my experiences, network and design tools with the startup ecosystem in Greece.”
